Meet
It was
pleasing to see so many athletes in attendance at this
week's meet. Some outstanding results were produced
with a large number of personal best results being
recording. Congratulations to Gabby Byrnes (Blues) who
continues her fabulous season-form breaking her previous
record in the Under 13 Shot Put by 1 metre, setting a new
distance of 10.60 metres. Gabby is certainly excelling
in the throw events this season and will no doubt be looking
to produce impressive results at the upcoming Region Track &
Field Championships.

Under the new Vic LA
competition regulations, the Under 14 & 15 girls have
implemented new javelin weights of 400g and 500g
respectively. Therefore, new records will be awarded
for both age groups this season.
This week, Under 14 athlete
Tiarni Butters (Eagles) threw 18.55 metres and Under 15's
Laura Monaghan threw 12.66 metres. These girls will
currently hold the new Centre records.

Prior to the commencement of

congratulated and presented all Region Relay participants
and coaches to the members. 25 BMLAC teams were
announced that they will now represent the Centre at the
State Relay Championships on January 28, 2012.
Our final meet for 2011 was
held today in warm conditions. 3 new Centre records
were set. Blues' Under 13 athlete Gabby Byrnes set 2
records for the meet. Gabby bettered her own previous
Shot Put record increasing the distance to 9.60 metres.
Gabby then launched the javelin a massive 31.61m to better
the previous record by 2.37m. In the Girls Under 14
Javelin the implement sizing has changed this season
therefore new records will be recorded with the new sizing.
Tiarni Butters (Eagles) this week threw 16.52m to set a new
Centre Record. Congratulations Gabby & Tiarni.

During the
meet we had a special visit
from Santa. The kids greeted Santa as he arrived in a
police car before wishing them all a Merry Christmas and
giving them an icy pole.

To conclude the meet, the
Mason's Lane sprinkler system was turned on and the athletes
enjoyed a cool down running through the sprinklers.
Little Athletics will resume on
January 21 next year. We wish all members a safe break
and look forward to catching up again in 2012.
